This policy explains what personal information Haka International collects through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Last updated: 5 September 2026.
Who we are
Haka International is a trading name of Māori Consulting Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16605852. Māori Consulting Limited is the data controller for the information described in this policy.
We provide haka performances, workshops and leadership programmes, and we operate across the United Kingdom, Europe and worldwide.
You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@hakainternational.com.
What we collect, and why
| Enquiry form | Your name, email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry and to arrange work if you go ahead. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and performance of a contract if you become a client. |
|---|---|
| Email, phone and WhatsApp | Whatever you choose to send us, including your contact details and the details of your event. Same purposes and same lawful bases as above. |
| Website analytics | Aggregated statistics about page visits, referring sites and approximate location, collected by WordPress.com Stats. We use this to understand which pages are useful. Lawful basis: legitimate interests. |
| Spam filtering | Enquiry form submissions are checked by Akismet, which processes the message content and the sending IP address to identify spam. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in keeping the form usable. |
We do not take payments through this website, we do not run a mailing list, and we do not use your information for advertising or profiling.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Automattic (WordPress.com) — website hosting, enquiry form delivery and analytics.
- Akismet — spam filtering on the enquiry form.
- Microsoft — our email.
- Meta — if you choose to contact us by WhatsApp, your message is handled under WhatsApp’s own terms.
Some of these providers are based outside the United Kingdom, principally in the United States. Where that is the case, transfers are made under the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to two years, so that we can pick up a conversation if you come back to us. Records relating to work we have carried out are kept for seven years, which is the period we are required to keep business records for tax purposes. Analytics data is aggregated and is not linked to you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time.
To exercise any of these, email info@hakainternational.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.
Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies are covered separately in our Cookie Policy.
